お疲れ様 Tomo!

花見 Tour in Japan
March 5 2014

My friend Hanno Leichtmann has invited me to perform at his Minimal Studies Festival in Berlin.
I’m currently working on a new piece based on Renaissance tablatures by Luis de Narváez from his ‘Los seys libros del Delphin’ published in 1538. On this occasion I will play my 1965 Framus parlor guitar for the first time live.

A big Thank you goes to Noël Akchoté for recommending both the instrument and tablatures, and his great enthusiasm in encouraging me.
Dank an Christian Fennesz for helping me with the fine tuning.

October 1 2013

On June 27 I will premiere a new piece for Hohner Electronium, an early analog synthesizer in the shape of an accordeon, developed in 1952 and featured extensively in Karlheinz Stockhausen’s groundbreaking pieces of process- and ‘intuitive’ music during the second half of the 1960’s.

The performance will take place at Kunst-Werke Berlin, a place I know since it was founded in the early 1990s, when I lived down the street and saw some fantastic exhibitions there, among them Bruce Nauman’s Corridor with Light and Fischli und Weiss’ Die sichtbare Welt. Both pieces had a lasting impact on me and my work.

Benny Nilsen will also perform live, Philip Marshall will play cassettes from his Tapeworm label, the space will feature a quad setup by Function One, so don’t miss this date in case you are around.
